Impressive Estate in the Cordobese Sierra

This property is a 1.000 hectare country estate located in the heart of the "Sierra of Hornachuelos" in Córdoba, the most exclusive game hunting area in Spain, favourite spot of King Alfonso XIII. It is 56 km from Cordoba and 100 km from Seville, two of the most beautiful and artistic cities in Spain, both having airport and High Velocity Train stations. It would take 2 ½ hours from Madrid (450km.) via HVT.

The farm has a morphology of unique beauty, full of pastures and mountains, with lush Mediterranean vegetation, ideal for the hunting practice. Two hunting parties are organised every year, with approximately a total bag of 80-100 deer and 30-50 boars. There is a wide network of tracks throughout the estate (35 km), bridges and two dams, with a capacity of 70.000 and 250.000 m3, for the sole use and enjoyment of the tenants.

The house was built between 1.971-76. It is an outstanding and highly artistic Andalusian palace on top of a mound with marvellous views across the Cordobese Sierra. It was designed and its construction supervised by the eminent architect, historian and writer, Mr. Fernando Chueca Goitia, responsible for so many distinguished works such as Madrid´s Cathedral, la Almudena.

The built area covers 3000 square meters and comprises various sections and apartments linked to one another by Andalusian courtyards - like the Orange Tree or the cloistered Moorish patios and girdled by belfries and turrets, the church and the prominent 16m renascent-style tower. Including the keeper's and other staff lodgings, there are 25 rooms, 19 bathrooms, a reception hall, a dining-room, the main and the upper living-rooms, the great hunters' hall, a big game room, an extensive industrial kitchen complex, as well as a utility room, laundry, wine cellar, engine room, etc. Inner architecture is characterised by the magnificence of the Andalusian baroque palatial style, with its adornments, vaults, archways, ceramic tiles and wooden ceilings.

The building stands in a walled area of 14.000 sq. Mt., amidst a combination of a variety of ornamental structures, gardens and orchards. Pavilions, balconies, chapel-like constructions, fountains, moats, even a quaint swimming-pool, as well as countless trees and flower-beds, all contribute to create a charming atmosphere evocative of the last Arab inhabitants of the Alhambra of Granada. This accounts for the uniqueness of this property among most other country houses in Spain.

Se trata de una finca de 1.000 Has. situada en el corazón de la Sierra de Hornachuelos, en Córdoba, la zona de caza mayor más selecta de España, lugar favorito del rey Alfonso XIII. Se encuentra a 56km. de Córdoba y 100km. de Sevilla, ambas con aeropuerto y conexión con el Tren de Alta Velocidad. Desde Madrid (450km.), vía tren, se puede llegar en dos horas y media.

La finca tiene una morfología de singular belleza, llena de pastos y monte, poblada de una exuberante vegetación mediterránea, ideal para la práctica de la caza. Se dan dos monterías al año en las que se cazan entre 80-100 ciervos y 30-50 jabalíes. Está perfectamente comunicada por una extensa red de carriles privados (35 kms.) y puentes. Tiene dos embalses de hormigón, de 70.000 y 250.000 metros cúbicos, para uso y disfrute de la propiedad.

La casa, construida entre 1.971-76, es una impresionante residencia de campo, de estilo andaluz, situada en un altozano que domina vastas extensiones de la Sierra cordobesa. La proyectó y dirigió el eminente arquitecto, historiador y escritor, D. Fernando Chueca Goitia, artífice, entre tantas e ilustres obras, de la catedral de Madrid, la Almudena.

Tiene más de 3.000 m² de superficie construida en varios cuerpos diferenciados, que se comunican entre sí por patios del más puro estilo andaluz, como el de los naranjos o el nazarí, jalonados por diferentes torreones, espadañas, la iglesia y la torre principal, de 16 metros.
