The entrepreneurial landscape in Latin America

When it comes to innovation and entrepreneurship, Latin America is one of the world’s most promising emerging markets and awash with opportunities. How has the entrepreneurial ecosystem evolved in this region? What are the challenges and opportunities? Is there an innovation gap in Latin America?

The 2018 edition of Foro Zagaleta in Marbella was organised by Zagaleta, specialised in luxury villas and plots, brought together leaders in innovation, investors and entrepreneurs who shared the key opportunities offered by the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Latin America with the CEO of Startup Mexico, Marcus Dantus.

Dantus explained that Latin America is a region with great potential because “it offers great opportunities, especially in robotics, mobiles, clean tech and social inequalities”. The profile of people who decide to start their own business project is mainly university students with talent and creativity, and although “in Latin America there’s a strong culture of failure intolerance and risk aversion, things are changing, and entrepreneurs are increasingly thinking globally and opting to start their own projects,” said Dantos during his keynote speech in Benahavis.
