Elements from the past and present combine in exquisite designs featuring vivid color combinations that joyously celebrate cultures in the various lines of the collection. Pieces from the Matsuri line take inspiration from paper lanterns of Asian celebrations with tourmalines, opals, diamonds and onyx. Chromaphonia jewels features Baroque-cut Afghan emeralds accentuated with paved diamonds, garnets, turquoises and onyx in a geometric composition.

Yoshino, with its pink sapphires, morganites and tourmalines recalls Japanese cherry blossoms. While Holika celebrates the arrival of spring with an Indian festival of blue and pink tourmalines, rubellites and chrysoberyls. Orienphonie pays tribute to the South Seas in a symmetry of coral, onyx and diamonds.

Cartier’s master jewelers have used stringing techniques to painstakingly thread hand-cut beads with expert balance and symmetry for the collection’s necklaces. While this technique is not new, it has been practiced in Cartier’s workshops like a rare art form. For the collection, craftsmen have also turned to new techniques aided by computer-assisted design for added precision to the designer’s quest for perfection.
