The Greencoats open the gates to the public at 10:30 am. However, the event only truly begins with the arrival of the Queen in Royal Procession at 2:00 pm after which the races commence. Top-class races take place in this five-day event including the prestigious Queen Anne Stakes, King’s Stand Stakes and St James’s Palace Stakes on the first day. The second day features the Prince of Wales’s Stake, considered by many as one of the most important of modern times. The historic Gold Cup occupies the third day bringing about crowds of spectators. This is followed by Coronation States and the Commonwealth Cup on the next day. Royal Ascot comes to a conclusion with the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, one of the world’s leading sprint races, on Saturday 23rd of June.
